The Latest From My Studio

Updated: Dec 19, 2024

Here it is, almost the end of December and I haven’t posted yet for the month. I’ve been scrambling to finish my portfolio with a goal to be done by the end of the year. My plan is to submit my portfolio to Milan Art Institute for graduation from The Mastery Program. Then, I will take a bit of a break before deciding where to focus my efforts in 2025.

New Release – Dragon Maiden

I finally finished the third painting in the Maiden, Mother, Crone series I’ve been working on and the 22nd for my portfolio.

A young woman with fiery red hair gazes intently at a newly hatched dragon, with another dragon protectively embracing her in a mystical, forest-like setting.

The painting depicts a young woman (maiden) gazing intently at a dragon emerging from an egg, her expression a blend of wonder and curiosity. I used rich colors of vibrant orange and phthalo green for her hair and clothing with the suggestion of dragon wings in the background.  Since you can’t have too many A dragons, I included a of a mother dragon that intertwines with her own, suggesting a connection between human and mythical realms. Details in the eyes invite contemplation, while the playful design brings a sense of fantasy.

Next in the Series

I have two more paintings to complement the Maiden, Mother, Crone series. One will be pretty similar to Dragon Maiden. The other will be an opus, including all the elements – a maiden, mother, and crone, but to mention dragons! Stay tuned for the reveal in my next blog post.

This vibrant and colorful abstract artwork teases an upcoming announcement with swirling patterns and vivid hues, setting an exciting, anticipatory tone.

Future release teaser showcasing a vibrant, expressive portrait, suggesting anticipation for upcoming content.

Dancing in the Streets

I've done four paintings in the "Dancing in the Streets" series portraying happy older couples dancing in iconic street locations. The latest, “Seattle Swing” isn’t quite done yet, but so very close. The paintings are done with acrylic and oil paints, each with an element of collage in the piano keys as a dance floor. What location should I paint next??

Here I proudly showcase my series of lively art, which features scenes of dancing couples and musical themes, all set against famous city backdrops.

Takeaways

I am looking at the finish line. I am so ready to start the near year fresh by giving myself the time to relax and regroup. I wish you all the hopeful season and a new year full of unexpected pleasure. Thank you all again for being with me.
